The Doctors Diet

Carrie 021We celebrated Carrie’s birthday on Sunday (it’s technically today, so if you are reading this Carrie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN!!! XOXOXO) Mom made her a beautiful album full of old and new photos, with letter from friends and family members that couldn’t be there, and a cute video of photos for her. We were all choking back tears! LOL.

Still haven’t heard about Humira…

Carrie 035Reading The Doctor Diet book. From the main cutie on the show The Doctors. I really like how he keeps you FULL throughout the day, and has specific meals to keep you full, your sugar up, and keep you healthy. My only problem with this book, is that even though he gives you LOTS of choices of foods to choose from, the timing of the day (or meal) he wants you to have ie. fruit at breakfast… I can’t do it bc of my Crohn’s. And he has good reasoning for why he wants you to have these certain types of foods during certain meals, or for snacks, etc.

Watching Orange Is the New Black. I like it… it’s watchable, but definitely not as good as everyone has made it out to be. I also just finished watching United States of Tara. I thought I wasn’t going to like it much better after seeing the first episode, but ended up keeping up with it, and really enjoying it!

Carrie 037This Thursday, Sophie and I are going Gluetin free shopping, and then going to see a dog program. It is where people bring their pet, and train them to do some of the things Service Dogs, etc. do. I think it’ll be really interesting to see, and nice to know that these pets are from everywhere even Humane Societies.

Carrie 038My sis gave me her vacuum bc mine yet again died, and it actually ended up being a newer version of the one my mom had given me by Dirt Devil… it’s terrible! It sucks up the dirt, then later spits it out from the back all over the floor lol. I need to save to invest in a good one!

Nicole and Adam came in the Fall and planted me some gorgeous flowers for this Spring since they knew I wasn’t going to be planting any, and with it being so warm (until today… we have snow) their plants started to bloom!

Ash,

Waiting Again

I am waiting for the rep.s for Humira to find out from disability, if they are going to fund my medicine or not. The first time I get 4 shots, two weeks later, 2 shots, then after that, 1 one every other week. Come on already!

april 003I thought little miss Reese was sick and going down hill. It has been stressing me out like crazy bc I am doing everything I’ve been told to do for guinea pigs, and she wasn’t playing as much, and didn’t eat her carrots! Now that’s just not her… they call them piggy’s for a reason! I don’t know if it was just a down day or what, but she’s back to her normal self, flying around the cage playing, eating and drinking normally, and eating her carrots, spinach and romane lettuce. Thankfully!!! I would have been so heart broken since she is only around 1 year.

april 004My tanks were taking a major beating bc of me being so sick. I want to always make sure that I do right by my pets, even my fish… and I would feel bad if one died bc of my own doing bc I wasn’t well enough to clean them. So I finally got the big tank cleaned out and going to try for the smaller one this weekend.

This weekend we’re having a birthday lunch for Carrie (my sis’s best friend and roomie) at mom’s. It will be nice to be around people!!!

I woke up Saturday and literally could walk straight. I was so dizzy and out of it. No Friday sorry. It was garbage day and I woke up before my alarm clock was to go off at 7am but it didn’t for some reason. I couldn’t get myself out of bed until almost noon bc the room was swirling all over the place. I’m used to being dizzy, but even once I got up, I was walking into stuff, dropping things, and couldn’t see or think straight. It was pretty scary. Now I just feel totally disgusted by food and don’t want to eat anything. BOO.

Going to head out and will write soon again when I have any news.

Ash,

FINALLY

march14 015Friday I FINALLY heard from the Humira rep.!!! Her name is Gail, and really nice. She asked me the normal medical questions, and came to find my G. I. never filled out the forms for me stating what I actually needed. So she e-mailed me the forms, and sent me my Humira pack in the mail, which I’ll get probably this week sometime. It’s the needle holder, a fake pen and info. on it.

Monday, I went to the G. I. with my mom. Susan couldn’t make it, and we were in and out of there so fast, I doubt she would have gotten there in time any ways. He filled out the forms for me, and I scanned and e-mailed them back to Gail as soon as I got to a computer, and called to let her know they were sent. He also said, it could start working earlier (the medicine) but that they give it 6-8 weeks to see if it’s doing its job. I hope to God it starts working earlier than that!

My family doctor switched my stomach medication Lansaprozol (sp?) and gave me some sample packs of this other one to try, but omg it is NOT working at all! And I am getting horrible stomach pains. Usually when my Crohn’s nears its end before I have to go to the hospital, I get these excruciating cramping pains alone the top of my belly, but right now they seem to be by my lower belly… which I think is how I am fighting it so well. The nausea is there, but I am not getting sick… yet. I really need to be getting this med. into me asap or else that will change… and can change at any moment now, which really worries me.

My appetite is still here and I am eating, but I have no interest in it. Not bc of the pain, I just don’t want food. Kind of like when you get a cold, you can’t taste it properly so you just sort of lose interest. I am making myself eat though no matter how nauseated I get.

My dad and Lois came by on Sunday before mom and I went grocery shopping. They got a fancy new tv, so they gave me their old one. Which is still newer than the tvs I’ve had. Mine originally, is 16 yrs old and Grams tv is older than that I think LOL. Very nice of them 🙂 They knew how terrible I was feeling (literally had to lay in bed ’til they got there) so my dad hooked it up for me while I broke one of my favorite cheapy vases from Homesense lol. BOO.

Mom was going to help me do my grocery shopping by splitting the list with me, but I was feeling better once the Gravol kicked in to do it myself. I also switched the Guinea Pig’s food up to another brand to try. It has all their vitamins they need minus the hay pieces in it, and so far they seem to like it.

I have no more appointments until May 2nd when I go to the Allergist, and then the end of May when I go back to the G. I. to see how the Humira is working on me.

Talk soon!

Ash,
